Here are the lamps before.
Here they are now.
I knew when I bought them that I was going to spray paint them but wasn't sure what color. A few weeks ago, I decided on orange. Our house is very colorful so, I thought I'd incorporate a color that I rarely ever use.
I found this orange geometric fabric on fabric.com. It is called P Kaufman indoor/outdoor fabric in Soho Sorbet. It also comes in a blue color.
I bought 2 drum shades from Target and covered them with the fabric. I don't have a tutorial because there is literally dozens of tutorials in blogland. HGTV.com has a really good tutorial.
The spray paint I used is Rust-oleum American Accents Ultra Cover in Gloss Real Orange.
This is a little glimpse into the room that I am now working on which is our living room. I painted the black and white stripe feature wall last year. The carpet is hideous and will be removed here in a few weeks. I am so excited about that. I have been wanting to remove this carpet for 4 years.
I am also working on a project in the hallway. The wall next to the office door (the door with the chalkboard faux molding) is getting some much needed attention.
I better get back to painting outside. I have lots of projects going on right now. I just need more hours in the day to get them all done.

The fu dogs (the dragon thingys) are from Pier 1 and I did paint them. They were a turquoise color. I plan on repainting them for the living room makeover though. I am going to stop by your party right now if I am not to late.
DeleteOh my! These are gorgeous! I absolutely love the colors....! FAB u lous!!!
ReplyDeleteWas it hard to cover the shades? I have never tried that..... :)

Crystelle, I am not going to lie. It was a little difficult to cover the lamp shades. Your fabric has to be cut exactly right or it will get all crooked. Kind of a pain.
DeleteThose lamps are crazy awesome!! I never used to like orange, but for some reason, it's really growing on me this season. Love the fabric choice on the shades, too. Thanks so much for sharing (saw it on Fun in Functional)!
ReplyDeleteKim @ {enjoy the view}
They turned out so great! I am dying to do this for some lamps in our bedroom, but I have had no luck finding ones at thrift stores or yard sales. Ugh. Must look harder. I popped over from Practically Functional...thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteVisiting from I Should be Mopping....'s linky party. Love your orange lamp transformations. I recovered two lamp shades a few years back--it did require my taking the old shade (which was broken anyway) to create a pattern to get it just right. Yours look amazing. Now following you and look forward to catching up on your posts. Hope you can come by Altered Artworks for a visit and a cup of coffee!
