Kitchen Update

OK.  Remember my crazy chevron kitchen?  Well, after living with it for a little while, there was something about it that wasn't right.  Don't get me wrong, I loved the room.  There was just something that wasn't jiving with me.  So guess what?  I painted it black.  I told you I was literally painting every room in my house black.

Just to refresh your memory, here is the before in all it's pink and burgundy glory.  Then my first attempt at the after with gray walls and here it is now with black walls.

If you hated the chevron cabinets and the zebra floor tiles, sorry, I didn't get rid of those things.  Those are my favorite things.  I did however, change some art and paint a few things.

I changed the color of the floor trim and trim around the windows to white.  White really makes the trim pop against the black walls.

The other problem I was having with the room was that the cabinet soffit above the sink was looking too cluttered to me.  I moved the utensil art to a different wall and added this pizza print.  Now, it looks right to me.

Don't mind my dining room area in this photo.  That is the room that I am working on now so there are materials laying around, projects in progress, and that hideous carpet.  I can't wait to get rid of it.

For some reason, I didn't include this full length shot of the kitchen in the original reveal post.  You didn't see that the cart that the mixer is siting on was gray.  I decided to give an extra pop of red by painting the cart.

If you look out the window (in the above photo), you can see a glimpse of our freshly painted siding.

This side of the room didn't change except for the wall color.

Another look at the white trim around the window.  Everything else is the same.

There you have it.  The kitchen is officially done for real this time.  No more changes, I promise (to my husband).

Again, if you missed the original reveal of this room, you can find it here.

So what do you think?  Do you think I am crazy for painting another room black?  I just love how black makes all the other colors pop.

Before you go, I have something exciting happening next week.  You don't want to miss it.  A first for If It's Not Baroque.  I hope to see you next week.  Have a great weekend.

  4. Think what you've done recently is simply making it better! Has a little more polished look and is pretty cool. Never thought I'd like a kitchen done with chevrons, but you've changed my mind. MMR

  7. That is an intensely crazy kitchen! I cannot say I would want it for me, but it will certainly not be forgotten :) Oh and I like the black better than the white too.

  8. What a fun, unique kitchen! I'm in love with the red cart that the mixer is on (and I usually don't even like the color red). I'd love if you'd come and share at Inspire Us Thursday at Organized 31. http://organized31.blogspot.com/2013/06/inspire-us-thursday-link-party-3.html
