The Coolest Thing I've Learned on the Internet

I have my "tom boy" tendencies, but I am a girly girl as well.  I love blingy sparkly things like any other girl out there.  So it is no surprise that I love crystals on anything.

As much as I love them clear, I sometimes wish I could change their color without making them opaque.  So I googled it and lo and behold you can change the color and still have it been translucent.

Some of you may know this little trick, but I did not and I wanted everyone to know about it.

How to take a crystal knob from this.

To this.

With only this.

I was skeptical at first.  I thought that it would only be temporary, but I did a test with an extra crystal pendant from a recent project several days ago and it is permanently red now.

Just go over the whole thing with the marker and viola.  Instant color change.

This would work with anything crystal even jewelry.  How cool is that?

I bought 3 clear crystal knobs from Hobby Lobby for an upcoming project that I wanted to be red.  Here they are after the sharpie treatment.

I just love this idea.  It is by far the coolest thing I have learned how to do on the internet.  How did we learn anything before the internet?

  1. I am visiting you from DIY Home Sweet Home. I love this idea. Do Sharpies come in pink? I just spent a lot to get pink knobs. I wish I would have seen this earlier.

    1. I think they make sharpies in every color now. Maybe you can take back the pink knobs.

  5. Very cool. I got 2 clearance knobs from Hobby Lobby but they are not the same color glass. It would be great if I could color them to be the same.

  9. Lauren,

I heard that if you change your mind the ink can be removed with Witch Hazel. I haven't tried this personally though.
