Link Party #14 Features

Before we get to my features, I would like to say Happy Anniversary to my best friend and wonderful husband.  We have been married for 3 years now.  I am going to do a post this week about our DIY wedding.  I know I have a few people out there that are interested in seeing what we did.  It was an extremely small wedding (only 25 people) and extremely cheap (about $1500).  So, if you are interested in that, stay tuned.

Fabric Storage Closet in my Office/Craft Room

I am sure all home decor bloggers have a stash of fabric laying around.  I know I do.  Before rearranging our office/craft room, all of my fabric was shoved into a box.  I had no idea what fabrics I had nor could I find what I needed if I did need it.  

When I decided to redo the office, I knew that I wanted my fabric to be stored in a way that I could see all the fabric I have.  I added so much storage space in the office that I could dedicate a whole bookcase to just my fabric.  So that is what I did.

I bought a Billy bookcase from Ikea and added a Billy Morebo glass door to use as the closet.

To store the fabric, I made mini bolts of fabric with several pieces of foam core from Walmart.  I measured and marked a 20x30 piece of foam core to get eight 7.5x10 mini bolts.

Because I have so much fabric, some of the fabric spilled into another billy bookcase in that room.

I love that I am able to see what fabric I have on hand now.  What do you think?  How do you store your fabric?

DIY Paint Splatter State Art Expedit Doors

Here is another office/craft room project that I finished.  I made 2.  West Virginia for me and Ohio for my husband.

I used 2 12x12 canvasses from Michael's.

I went online and found jpegs of both states and imported them into Photoshop to re-size them to 12x12.  Then I printed them out.

I carefully cut out the states and taped them down onto my canvas. (Sorry, I only took pictures of the one state, but you get the idea.)

This next part is trial and error.  I had no idea what kind of results I would get so I can't give you exact steps.  I put some water into my spray bottle with some craft paint and started spraying my canvas.  This is what it looked like after I removed the stencil.  I was pretty pleased with it.  After it dried for several hours, I painted on the stars around the vicinity of where I am from and where my husband is from.

I attached both canvasses to my Expedit book case just like I did here.

Link Party #13 Features

Hello everyone.  Sorry I was absent from the blog for a little bit.  I was having a design dilemma.  Have you ever had a ton of projects to do with a limited amount of money and can't figure out what you should do first?  Well, that is what I have been going through lately.  

The office/craft room is pretty much done except for a few little projects.  Now that it is mostly done, I don't know which projects I should tackle next.  There is still so much to do and the money isn't going to finish everything.  So I have to figure out which project is more important to me.  

I can start our living room, but won't be able to finish it.  I can renovate our bathroom completely and do some updates on the kitchen and bedroom that need a few changes.  I can do a few outside projects.  Or, I can do a little bit of everything.  I think doing a little bit of everything is the best solution, but then it will be awhile before I can finish any of those projects completely. 

I would love any suggestions from my lovely readers.  For now, here are my favorites from last week's link party.

Link Party #12 Features

Hi everyone.  What a busy couple of days.  On Easter, we went to see Green Day in Pittsburgh for my birthday.  My birthday was yesterday.  (Yes, I am an April fools baby.  I have heard that about a thousand times in my life.)  For my birthday, my husband said he would get as much done in the office/craft room that he could.  So we were busy most of yesterday to get as much done as we could.  We didn't get it all done but, I hope that we can get it finished this weekend.
