DIY Magnetic Menu Board

Happy Monday everyone!

Today, I am putting the finishing touches on my kitchen.  I am so glad that it will finally be done.  I started working on the kitchen in October.  So it is a huge relief for it to be done.

In the meantime, while I am finishing things up today, I am going to show you the final project that I worked on in there.  A magnetic menu board.

This was a really easy project.  Almost all of the projects I do are easy.  I don't have the guts to try anything too hard.

Here is what you need:

Magnetic Sheets (Walmart)
Packing Tape (Walmart)
Scrapbook Paper (JoAnn)
Double sided Tape (Not shown)
Computer, Printer, Ink and paper (Not shown)
Scissors (Not shown)

The first step is to open your Word program on your computer to make a table for the meal names.  I made a table that was 5 across and 7 down.  Each cell is 1.5 x 1.5.

You can add the meals you make the most in each box.  Use whatever font that you like.  I used a font called Curlz MT.  When you are done adding the meals, print them out.  Then, using the grid lines as a cut line, cut each meal out.

Next, take your scrapbook paper and cut squares that are a tiny bit bigger than your meal names.  I made mine 2x2.

After you have cut all your squares, you need to use the double sided tape to tape the meal name to the scrapbook paper.  This helps keep it from moving while putting on the packing tape.

Next, cut a piece of packing tape that is slightly bigger than the scrapbook paper squares and stick it over the whole thing.  This is like laminating it.

Cut your magnet sheets into 2x2 squares and stick a magnet onto the back of the scrapbook paper.

Now you need to make your "What's for Dinner" header and days of the week magnets.  I used Photoshop but you can use any photo editing software.

Follow the same steps for the days of the week and What's for Dinner.  You will just have to adjust the size of the magnet to fit on the backs of them.

If you have a lot of different meals that you make regularly this might take a couple hours to do, but I had a lot of fun making them.

When you are done, stick them on your refrigerator.

I put the extra magnets on the side of the refrigerator.

We really have been utilizing this menu board.  It also helps in making your grocery list each week.

So what do you guys do to keep track of what you will eat for the week?

Don't forget to link up to my Tuesday link party tomorrow.  I want to see what everyone has been working on in their homes.

Wednesday is the big reveal day for the Kitchen.  I am so excited to show it off.  It is by far my favorite room so far.
