TV Stand Makeover

Remember my TV stand from my flea market lamps makeover?  If you don't, here it is again.

It is a Besta storage combination with doors from Ikea and the center door is a Besta Tombo glass door.

When we ripped out the ugly green carpet and painted the floor black, I wanted a different look for the TV Stand.  Here is what I came up with.

The original plan didn't work out so I decided to just paint it and swap out the fabric that was in the center door.  I painted it Suddenly Sapphire from Lowe's.

The fabric is from Joann Fabric.  It is an indoor/outdoor fabric called richloom variations poolside.  The orange in the fabric was originally yellow.  I hand painted over the yellow with orange paint that I had left over because I wanted the lamps to tie in with the TV stand.

When painting Ikea furniture, you should sand it and prime it with a gripping primer so that the paint sticks to the smooth surface.  If you don't sand and prime, the paint will peel off.  I've had it happen.

If you look closely into the TV screen, you can see a glimpse of polka dots that I incorporated into the room.  I am not going to tell you where they are.  It will be a surprise.

You can also see that I added shelves to the black and white striped wall.  Right now, I have my camera's and viking glass displayed on them.  That stuff will get moved around when I finish accessorizing the room.

If you don't like color and pattern, there is a good possibility that you hate my house.  I can't get enough of the bright colors and bold patterns everywhere in my house.  It is so fun and happy in every room.  I am like Punky Brewster all of a sudden.

Flea Market Flip - Chair Makeover

I finally finished working on that flea market chair that I bought a few months ago.

Here is the chair before.

The chair was $3.  It was very dirty and stained, but I loved the mid century modern look it has.  I wasn't going to keep it.  I just wanted to clean it up, change the color and try to sell it.  But, I changed my mind.  I am keeping it.

Here it is now.

I wasn't sure what color I wanted to paint it.  Last week, I finally decided on this greenish yellow color.

It is Krylon ColorMaster spray paint in Citrus Green in Gloss.  Sometimes it looks green and sometimes it looks yellow, it just depends on the light.

The legs of the chair were rusted and needed a coat of paint.  I was going to paint them silver, but my husband suggested painting them black and I am glad he did.  I don't think I would have liked the chair as much with the silver legs.  My husband knows me so well.

This chair obviously doesn't belong in our office.  I just took pictures of it in there.  It will ultimately go on our deck that we are getting ready to build on the front of our house.  I will take more pictures of it out there when the deck is complete.

With paint, this chair cost less than $10.  Not bad!  Have you found anything cool at the flea market lately?

Round Up #3 Features

Have you ever had a week where everything you try to do takes longer than you think or you just aren't feeling a project and have to scrap it?  That is me this week.

I had planned on posting about my flea market chair that I bought several months ago.  I thought it would take a couple of hours to finish and it still isn't finished.  I planned on posting about my TV stand makeover, but I didn't like what I planned on doing to it.  So I had to come up with something else.  Because of those things, I had no posts this week.  But on the positive side, I should have those projects done this weekend and will be able to do my posts next week.

In the meantime, here are my favorites from last week's link party.
