Flea Market Finds Friday

It's Friday.  That means another installment of Flea Market Finds.

This was the best flea market outing I have ever had.  I wasn't even sure there was going to be many vendors at this outdoor flea market because it was still kind of cold.  It was suppose to be 49 degrees.  I thought that because it is warmer than it has been, some people will set up outdoors.  Boy was I wrong.  I guess it was like the official start to the flea market season here.  Tons of vendors and vendors with great stuff for dirt cheap.  This is what I came home with.

This orange chair that needs some TLC was only $3.  Can you believe that?

These brass lamps were $15 for the pair.

My first Viking glass piece to start my collection.  Only $3.  Another vendor selling Viking glass said that we got a deal on it because she was selling 2 similar pieces that were red for $15 each.

This camera I bought at an antique store on Monday.  Only $5.

That is it.  There were other things that I could have bought if I had a truck.  Our car doesn't have a big trunk and the seats don't fold down so, it wasn't possible to buy them.  There was a set of 4 wrought iron chairs that were really cool.  They needed painted and new upholstery.  Also, 2 red velvet chairs that needed some work that were only $40 for the pair.  Oh well.  Maybe I will find something cool next time.  I am pretty happy with everything that I did buy.

Have you been flea marketing yet?  I'd love to find some other flea markets near by if you know of any, let me know.

DIY Mail Sorter Shelf

I am sure you have seen this mail sorter shelf on Pinterest or in blogland.  When I saw it here, I knew I had to do it.  It is the easiest project.

All you need is an existing shelf or a piece of wood to make your own shelf (which is what we did) and 2 packs of Knuff magazine files for Ikea.

KNUFF Magazine file, set of 2 IKEA Untreated wood; can be treated with oil or glazing paint for a personal touch and a more durable surface.

Screw the magazine files to the shelf and you are done.  Super easy.  You can follow the link from the original source for more in depth instructions.  It is pretty self explanatory though.

I am now on Pinterest.  If you would like to follow me, you can do so here.

Also, my Tuesday link party is still going on.  I'd love it if you would link up if you haven't already.  You can link up here.

Flea Market Finds Friday

I decided to start a weekly post about the goodies I find at flea markets, yard sales or antique stores.

Today, I am going to show you what I bought at our local antique store the other day.

This dog was originally orange and needed painted badly.  So I painted it red.

This wooden lion was black and I painted it blue.  Sorry for not taking before pictures.

I found these 2 globes to add to my collection.

And this Polaroid camera.

Everything except the camera will go in my office/craft room.

I have been working every day to get the room done.  It would get done sooner if the weather would cooperate.  So much for Spring.

Have you found anything good at an antique store or flea market?

Ikea Hack Album Cover Expedit Doors

Hello everyone.  I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Today, I am sharing a project that I did in my office/craft room.  The room is almost done and I can't wait to show it to you.

This project will give you little insight into the theme (if you want to call it that) of the room.  It is a mix of Fashion, Music and Sports.  All of which are very important to me.

Ikea actually makes a door for the Expedit, but they are kind of expensive in my opinion.  I wanted to do a door that was cheaper.  I originally was going to do a more elaborate door, but after some research I found that it was going to be too complicated to do.  Then, I found this idea from Dans le Townhouse.  Cheap and easy to do.  My kind of project.

Here is how I made mine.

Materials Needed:

12x12 canvas (I bought a 7 pack at Michael's and used a coupon to get a discount)
Screw Eyes (Smallest size)
1/2" Cup Hooks
Mod Podge
Paint Brush
Pliers
Hammer
Tape Measure
12x12 Album Cover Prints (I had made at a local printer)

First measure and mark where you want your screw eyes to go on the Expedit.  I used a hammer to start the screw then used pliers to turn it into the Expedit Shelf.  I probably will use a drill next time to make the hole first.  That was the hardest part.

Next, measure and mark where you want your cup hooks to go on the canvas.  They need to be the same as your screw eyes.

Paint on some Mod Podge to the whole canvas.

Then lay your print down into the Mod Podge and let it dry.

Hang it and you are done.  Very easy and way cheaper than 4 doors from Ikea.

I plan on making several of these doors but with different art.  I will show you them whenever they are done.

Have a nice weekend.
