As much as I love them clear, I sometimes wish I could change their color without making them opaque. So I googled it and lo and behold you can change the color and still have it been translucent.
Some of you may know this little trick, but I did not and I wanted everyone to know about it.
How to take a crystal knob from this.
To this.
With only this.
Just go over the whole thing with the marker and viola. Instant color change.
This would work with anything crystal even jewelry. How cool is that?
I bought 3 clear crystal knobs from Hobby Lobby for an upcoming project that I wanted to be red. Here they are after the sharpie treatment.
I just love this idea. It is by far the coolest thing I have learned how to do on the internet. How did we learn anything before the internet?

I am visiting you from DIY Home Sweet Home. I love this idea. Do Sharpies come in pink? I just spent a lot to get pink knobs. I wish I would have seen this earlier.
ReplyDeleteI think they make sharpies in every color now. Maybe you can take back the pink knobs.
DeleteI SOOO did not know this, but it makes perfect sense! I'm sure I'll be using this for something, so I'm pinning it. Thanks a bunch!!

ReplyDeleteVery cool. I got 2 clearance knobs from Hobby Lobby but they are not the same color glass. It would be great if I could color them to be the same.
ReplyDeleteOh the possibilities! Good to know, I didn't know that either. I love the internet. I've practically earned another degree from the University of Google. ;)

Lauren,
ReplyDeleteI heard that if you change your mind the ink can be removed with Witch Hazel. I haven't tried this personally though.
